Conscientious Youth Empowerment Foundation partnered with the Kwara State Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to carry out a comprehensive sensitization campaign on voter registration and the dangers of vote-selling ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Through this collaborative effort, the Foundation and INEC worked hand-in-hand to educate citizens—especially youths, first-time voters, and grassroots communities—on the importance of participating fully in the electoral process.

The campaign emphasized the need for eligible individuals to register early, update their information when necessary, and ensure they collect their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) before election day.

The sensitization program also addressed one of the major threats to credible elections: vote-selling.

Conscientious Youth Empowerment Foundation used the platform to explain how selling one’s vote undermines personal freedom, weakens democratic institutions, and allows incompetent leaders to gain power through financial inducements rather than merit.

Participants were reminded that short-term gains received from selling a vote cannot compare to the long-term impact of poor governance, inadequate infrastructure, unemployment, and lack of public services.

The outreach activities were carried out through community gatherings, market sensitization, school visits, and public enlightenment drives, ensuring the message reached a wide and diverse audience.

Trained volunteers engaged residents directly, shared educational materials, and encouraged them to take ownership of the electoral process as responsible citizens.

INEC officials commended the Foundation’s commitment to civic responsibility and described the partnership as an essential step toward enhancing voter education in Kwara State.

They acknowledged that strong collaboration between civil society organizations and electoral bodies is key to building a well-informed electorate and strengthening Nigeria’s democratic culture.

The initiative ended with a renewed call for all citizens, particularly young people, to register, vote wisely, and resist all attempts to buy their conscience. Through this impactful collaboration.

Conscientious Youth Empowerment Foundation reaffirmed its mission to empower communities, promote transparency, and nurture a generation of voters who prioritize competence, integrity, and national progress.
